Brazyn Trybe!

We have been getting a lot of requests for an update over the last couple weeks. In short, there’s not a lot to report right now but we expect to have more news for you soon!

Here’s the gist of what’s happening. Our new foam mold is basically finished! We are now just waiting to get some new parts molded and sent to us for testing (hoping to have these parts in-hand next week). This is a huge step for us! If the foam is great, we will expedite the production of the new foam, have it rush shipped to our factory, build amazing product, and hopefully be able to get your orders shipped out near the end of June (we plan to spend large sums on air-freight shipments to make sure we can expedite wherever we can).  However, if the foam needs some alterations, then we will do whatever we can to make sure they happen as quickly as possible. As soon as we know what the status on the new foam is, we will let you know and hopefully be less ambiguous about the shipping timeline.

On updates in general:  We’d like to know your opinion. Would you like more frequent updates or do you think we’re doing a good job? Our philosophy is to only update you when something really important happens. Our inboxes are constantly flooded with irrelevant junk and this can sometimes cause cognitive overload. I’m sure it’s the same for many of you.  We see it as a fine balance.  Part of the fun of backing an early stage product like The Morph is getting to see the development.  We are trying to bring something special to life and we feel like you are all in the boat with us!  We want to make sure we keep you up to date with our progress, but at the same time, we don't want to be just another thing you have to delete in your inbox to get to the good stuff :)  Sometimes it might seem like we are a little quiet, but it doesn't mean we don't love you!  We're still here working away.  Anyway, if you have a strong opinion one way or the other, let us know.

Also, for more frequent updates, we'd love to engage with you all on the Socials.  You can see what we're up to by following us on:

Good News or Bad News First?
over 8 years ago – Wed, Mar 16, 2016 at 09:04:53 PM

Loyal supporters, we come to you with news. Some good…some bad…

(If you’re in a hurry, only read the bold parts – 45 second read)

Quick tidbits:

- The Morph has been selected as a finalist in Inc. Magazine's Best In Class Design Awards!  Simply AwesomeThanks again for helping to bring this project to life and shining a light on what we're doing!   We have put a ton of effort into the design of all aspects of this roller - from the way it looks, to the way it operates, to the sustainable materials we are using to build it - so we are super proud of this.

- Another great development is that we have started discussions with Adidas for a potential partnership.  While it's still early, we are hopeful that they will become the international distributor of The Morph and bring it worldwide!

Updates:

More good news farther down, but first the bad news... Those who have seen and tested The Morph can tell you that the mechanics of the product look quite simple.  And this is true. . . to an extent.

The mechanism that allows The Morph to easily expand from a small flat object into a legit foam roller, then securely stay in place while a large grown man (like myself) tries his best to destroy it (see picture below), then easily fold back down again when he fails, is fairly straight forward. But don’t let that fool you, this product involves an intricate balance of requirements. It has to be strong, it has to be lightweight, it has to be easy to operate, it has to be durable, it has to roll like a champ, and because we think the world is a pretty cool place, it has to be made of materials that can be sustainably produced.

350lbs - Load Bearing

Rest assured, The Morph accomplishes all of this. BUT, in pushing the boundaries of collapsible technology, we have come across a speed bump.

Just a few days before our first foam production was due to ship to our factory, we noticed that a few prototypes we had left in the sun were having problems. Doing what any normal person would do, we cranked the heat up in an oven to the highest temperature we could conceive of The Morph encountering in daily life, and tossed those suckers in there.

The results were not what we had hoped for. So, praying that we simply had some bad sample parts, we had the factory test the finished parts. Again, the results were not up to our standard….

Let me add a quick caveat. We are proud to be working with an awesome foam supplier (if you want to learn more about the foam we are using, and why it’s special, check out PLUSfoam.com). Unfortunately, the compound they created to help The Morph operate seamlessly, did not tolerate heat the way we expected it to. This means the product would not be as durable as we want it to be. This means we had come up with a solution, and if you haven’t guessed already what the bad news is… this means we will have a delay in our expected ship date.

If you have previously backed a Kickstarter project, then you will probably have experienced this before. Let me just say that we desperately wanted to be one of the few companies that delivered early on our timeline. We are sorry to fall short of this, but we had a tough decision to make. Move forward with the timeline and send out a product we weren’t confident in, or take a delay and deliver a better product. We chose the latter.

This all leads us into the good news. Over the last two weeks, I have been at our factory in Europe working hard to refine the design of The Morph and making it even better!

Progress
Progress

Let’s start with the foam. Basically, we have to use a new molding process which will allow the foam to have a higher heat tolerance. This means we have to make a new mold. While this takes time, it has also allowed us to improve the design. Taking what we’ve learned from our original parts, we think the new foam will not only look better, but it will enhance the rolling experience even more! Take a look at these renderings:

The differences are subtle, but our new foam will be thinner (meaning the collapsed roller will be even smaller), lighter, and darn it, even more elegant! Overall, this change will make The Morph a better product and we are excited to implement these changes.

Next is the mechanism. We have made painstaking efforts to optimize the way the support structure is assembled. This has a lot of benefits, but for you, it means that The Morph will be even easier to operate. One major advancement is that we’ve figured out a way to allow you to collapse the roller by pushing on either disk. You probably haven’t thought about it, but this bit of fool-proofing will go a long way when you let your friends borrow your Morph.

In summary, we hate to announce a delay for the release of The Morph, but in the end we think you will appreciate what we are accomplishing with this setback.

So to answer the question you all have…

When will The Morph be available? The answer to that is a bit tricky. We are still sorting out the timeline for when our new foam parts will be finished. While it’s hard to say for sure, we think they will be available in mid-to-late April. If the parts come off perfect, and no more alterations need to be made, then we are hopeful that this delay will only cost us a month and a half. If so, we should be able to ship out all of our Kickstarter orders before the end of June.

Quality is at the heart of what we do. We are adamant about delivering an amazing product, so we thank you all for your understanding and patience while we work through this issue.

Be Brazyn.

Production Update, BrazynLife.com, and The Morph Mobility Deck!
almost 9 years ago – Sat, Feb 13, 2016 at 07:06:01 PM

Moving along!

First off, we want to thank you all again for supporting The Morph!   We've got some exciting updates for you!

Though we have been noticeably quiet over the last month and a half, it's not because we have forgotten about all of you.  Just the opposite.  We have been diligently working away behind the scenes to set up our first production and make sure we stay on target for our projected shipping date.

We're happy to report that all is shaping up nicely and, as of now, we are still on schedule to get all our Kickstarter orders out by the end of April.  All of our major components are under production and/or on the way to our factory.  We are working on our production tooling now and this is taking some time, but barring any unforeseen setbacks, we should have them ready in time to start assembling the world's only collapsible foam roller in March!  Of course, if we do encounter any delays as we move forward, we will be sure to let you all know.

Now on to the stuff that we can share with your right now!

The Morph Mobility Workout Deck

The digital version of The Morph Mobility Deck is ready for download!  As promised, here are 10 awesome mobility workouts that can help anyone to live a more healthy and active lifestyle.   If you've ever gotten on a foam roller and not really known what to do, well now you don't have to think about it.  Each card is designed for a specific purpose and will help you to get the most out of your foam rolling practice.  Though we could have just listed the full set of moves one by one, we realized that actual workouts, with pre thought out foam rolling sequences aimed at specific needs, would be much more beneficial.  Of course, any move can be added or subtracted from any of the workouts, but these cards will guide you through the things you should be doing in your practice.  Think of the Mobility Deck as your mobility coach.  Download them, print them, share them.  Here's a look at some of our faves, but you can download them all HERE.

And that's all for now.   We look forward to continuing the conversation with all of you and keeping you posted on our progress.  If you have any questions, please reach out to us!  We hope the new year is treating you well, and you are all finding time for adventure.

Thanks!

It's been an incredible 30 days!  We can't be more thrilled to have you on board for the launch of The Morph Foam Roller.  As we move into production, we promise to keep you updated on the progress we're making to put the Morph into your hands.

Over the last 30 days this has been us watching our Kickstarter Page...

Exhausting?  Yes.  Fun?  Of course!  And now its business time...

We've made the statement that, "The Morph is the biggest innovation in foam rolling since the foam roller."  Sure it's fun to say, but we whole heartedly believe it's true.  Foam Rolling is becoming convenient, and we are proud to be at the forefront of design and innovation around such an awesome mobility tool.  Thank you all again for your support.
